Dr. D’Angelo is a licensed psychologist who understands the importance of a collaborative relationship in therapy. She believes the relationship between the therapist and the client is the most important vehicle for change.  Dr. D’Angelo attempts to provide a warm, caring, and accepting atmosphere that will encourage clients to move toward their goals and improve their lives.

Dr. D’Angelo integrates acceptance-based cognitive behavioral therapy with an interpersonal approach. She works with clients to increase their emotional awareness and self-compassion. She helps clients identify their unique strengths in order to develop healthy coping skills. She also uses mindfulness to help clients manage difficult emotions. Dr. D’Angelo’s professionalism, authenticity, and sense of humor set her apart as a clinician.

Dr. D’Angelo specializes in working with individuals and couples that have been impacted by sexual trauma. She works with trauma survivors to establish safety and stability in their lives. This prepares them to process their trauma in a secure and supportive environment. Dr. D’Angelo has completed Level 1, 2, and 3 training in Gottman Method Couples therapy and she uses the Gottman Method in her work.

Dr. D’Angelo is a licensed psychologist in NC and proud co-owner of Willow Wellness, LLC. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from UNC-Charlotte. Her training as a health psychologist gives Dr. D’Angelo a unique understanding of the biopsychosocial model of health. She takes a holistic approach to her work and focuses on promoting health in her own life, the lives of her clients, and the Wilmington community. She also holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from East Carolina University. Before working in private practice, Dr. D’Angelo worked with clients in a variety of settings including: college counseling centers, outpatient cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, inpatient traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, and inpatient spinal cord injury rehabilitation.
