I am passionate about helping individuals rebuild a healthy relationship with food and exercise through evidence based nutrition education and nutrition therapy. In sessions I use a non-diet and health at every size approach to create a space where individuals can feel free of judgment and are able to explore how their eating habits contribute to their overall health and wellness. I love getting to know people, and building relationships in sessions allows me to best support my clients in finding their own motivators to create change in their eating and exercise patterns long term.
I’m a small town, NC mountain girl. I’ve been in Wilmington since 2016, and can officially say the ocean and boating with my family have the other half of my heart!
I tend to offer comic relief in sessions, and most of the time it’s by accident. Laughs are very welcome in my office!!!
I’m direct, yet warm and supportive! It’s all about moderation, right!?!
I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist-Consultant through IAEDP, and offer supervision for individuals seeking CEDS certification, or that are simply interested in expanding their knowledge base in the eating disorder field.
I also see individuals seeking nutrition education to treat medical conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, thyroid issues, etc.
I specialize in treating individuals who struggle with eating disorders or disordered eating. I use a Non-Diet and Health at Every Size (R) approach in my work. When appropriate I incorporate mindful eating and intuitive eating techniques. When it’s helpful I use creative techniques in my sessions including food exposures, eating together in sessions, and eating together at restaurants.
I am a CERTIFIED EATING DISORDER SPECIALIST - CONSULTANT (CEDS-C) through IAEDP.
I teach a nutrition class at UNC - WILMINGTON and enjoy finding ways to learn and grow in the field.
I began my career in 2009 working with ADULTS, ADOLESCENTS, and CHILDREN through different levels of care, including Inpatient, Residential, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and Outpatient.
I completed my Masters in Nutrition at APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY.
I received my Bachelors of Science in EXERCISE SCIENCE / HEALTH FITNESS with a minor in Women's Studies from
UNC - CHARLOTTE.
